Stolen Words

Stolen Words is a very moving book written by Melanie Florence, illustrated by Gabrielle Grimard.  The book was about a sweet little girl from the Cree tribe. She asks her grandfather how do you say grandfather in Cree. The grandfather says that he can’t remember the Cree language because it was stolen from him when he was a little boy. The girl sets out to help her grandfather find his language. One day after school, she comes home with a book that had all of the Cree words in it.            Image result for stolen words

Hey, Little Ant

Today in class we read a picture book called Hey,Little Ant authors Phillip+Hannah Hoose illustrations by Debbie Tilley. It was a really nice flowing story with all of it’s sentences are rhyming. The moral of the story is treat people and animals how you would want to be treated. The story is about this boy and an ant and the boy is threatening that he is going to squish the ant because he is big and strong. The boy thinks that the ant is some little worthless creature. But when the ant tells him that he digs the nest and feeds ant baby’s the boy reconsiders squishing the ant. I like this story because it tells a very powerful lesson.Image result for hey little ant
